The following links provide useful resources available to you in British Columbia that you can use to help to educate your athletes

There are many workshops and videos available to you! 

  • Sexual assault intervention and prevention education                              

    • The University of British Columbia offers workshops on (1) Talking about sex: Communication about sex, sexual health and consent, (2) Responding to disclosures, (3) Bystander interventio

    • UBC has a Sexual Assault Prevention Team (SAPT) that not only wants to make their campus a safer place, but also the greater community.

  • Statistics of sexual violence in your province

    • This website not only provides statistics relevant to your province but also offers a variety of videos that are useful tools that can be used to educate your athletes. There are some great teaching tools that can be taken advantage of on this website.

  • Women Against Violence Against Women (WAVAW)  Rape Crisis Center Workshops

    • Through workshops and educational programs, WAVAW works to shift attitudes, beliefs and thinking by increasing awareness and knowledge about sexual violence in their communities

    • Workshops include: (1) Supporting survivors after sexual assault, (2) Supporting trans survivors, (3) Sexual violence prevention education

    • Provides theraputic services for males who have been sexually abused at some point in their lives

    • Provides counseling, programs, resources and peer support to the lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual communities

  • Healthlink BC

    • A gateway to non-emergency health information and services

    • Provides a phone service, print ressources and a health navigation system, advice from healthcare professionals and allows community members to look ip symptons and  services 

    • Phone: dial 8-1-1, nurses are available to answer questions 24 hours every day

    • TTY: dial 7-1-1

    • Translation services are available in over 130 languages on request

  • Helpline for children 

    • Toll free and staffed by social workers who can provide help and answer questions regarging reports of chils abuse or neglect

    • Phone: 310-1234 (no area code required), 24 hours every day, to report a person under 19 who needs protection to the Ministry of Children and Family Development
